If you like to groove to music that you can actually sing along to, this lively disco in the Gràcia district is the place for you. A mixed crowd comes to dance (and we mean dance; tables and chairs for lounging are nowhere in sight) to classic and current pop tunes. Open Thu-Sat 10.30pm-3.30am.
BAJA BEACH CLUB
Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta 34 / 93 225 9100 / www.bajabeach.es
Bare-chested barmen and scantily clad professional dancers, a drinks list that includes far more shots than cocktails, bleeping techno beats and a thundering base… Baja Beach is Barcelona’s cheesy mega club par excellence. No, it’s not sophisticated, but it’s a fabulously fun place for a big night out. The club is best known for implanting its VIPs with tiny microchips that allow them to pay for drinks with a mere wave of the hand. Very silly but good fun. Open Thu-Sun noon-6am.
BUDHA BAR

The oversize golden Buddhas scattered throughout this sexy restaurant-cum-bar lend it a glitzy, even ostentatious mood that pairs perfectly with its over-the-top parties and theme nights. One of Barcelona’s trendiest nightspots Budha Bar hosts Tuesdays’ “Model’s Night”, the disco-style “Friday Night Fever” and twice-monthly “Asian Night”, complete with geishas serving drinks. Open daily until 3am.
DANZARAMA
Gran Via 604 / 93 301 9743
House beats dominate the dance floor at this popular restaurant, bar and disco near the Plaça Universitat, but even better than the music is the spectacular design, featuring fresh, minimalist lines and unexpectedly fun elements like the giant swings in the dining room. It’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but the real action happens Thu-Sat nights from midnight until 3am.
DANZATORIA
Avinguda Tibidabo 61 / 93 211 6261
Yet another multi-space venue, Danzatoria is both a cosy restaurant and a sophisticated club where you can dine, stay for drinks on the spectacular terrace overlooking Barcelona, then dance the night away among the city’s most fashionable night owls. There might as well be a sign reading “Beautiful people only, please.” Club open Thu-Sat 11pm until 3am (also open Sundays in summer). Take a cab.
